The Embodied Heart of Activism with Andrew Harvey and Robin Becker
The Abode of the Message, Mountain Camp

Our deepest connection to life is experienced through our bodies. The body is the heart of our shared humanity, and it carries the roots of our empathy, compassion, and inspired action. Join us for a weekend with Andrew Harvey and Robin Becker as they combine forces to share their passionate teaching in the exploration of how movement, artistic expression and spiritual teachings in action can inspire us to be powerful agents of social and cultural change. They will share their experience of the body as a teacher of life’s unfolding mystery, and how our embodiment can become a resource for compassion, deep restoration, and reconnection to life that is desperately needed as we are called to take courageous and loving action in the world.

Embodiment: The Journey Home to Oneself

A Continuum Workshop
Taught by Robin Becker

www.Kientalerhof.ch

“I see our bodies formed by the liquid of our first cradle. Our early watery environment shapes and gives us its secret. This is our first home, our ‘primordial field.’ The fluid in our cells is our birthplace, our memory of the creative matrix in which all life is summoned.”
—Emilie Conrad, founder of ContinuumMovement

“We do not live on the earth, we are the earth.”
—Sister Miriam MacGillis

In this fast moving era, so many of us are looking for deep rest, renewal and safety. Through the practice of Continuum, the nature of the body becomes a process we learn to reclaim, recognize, and trust again. Continuum is an innovative exploration of the body as a fluid system. From the formation of galaxies to the pulsing cells of the human body, all life forms have been shaped by and share the fundamental movement of spiraling fluid systems. From the waves of the air, the waters of the planet, the rays of the sun and the unfolding growth of plants-- all life is in movement. Composed primarily of water, all exchange of information within the body and with the larger world happens through this universal language of fluid movement.

The longing for restoration and a return to an experience of living with ease and possibility is answered in Continuum. As we join with the biologically based primary movements that are ever present within us, we learn how restoration and renewal is the birthright of our fluid nature. Many who participate express the delight of finding a way through Continuum to offer self-care and new dimensions of supportive bodywork to themselves.

In this workshop, Robin weaves her expertise and knowledge of Continuum together with her lifelong study of the body and physical expression through dance and movement improvisation. The workshop will include a ‘dreamtime’ or a period of silence, during which we move and rest in the deep listening and resonance of the group.

July 9 at 8:00 pm to July 10 at 6pm will be An Introduction to Continuum, that is a requirement for those who are new to the work.

The in-depth workshop will begin on July 10 at 8pm.

This movement practice is appropriate and safe for everyone at ALL mobility levels. No previous movement or dance experience is required.

Module 4
of a 200 hour, 8 module

Moving Inquiry Continuum Training Program
Embodiment and the Creative Process
Taught by Robin Becker

The focus of module 4 will be on the body as a creative process. Approaching the body with a sense of interest and openness to discovery, we will explore how the primary movement motifs and processes of our biology can serve as a metaphor for our creative endeavors. Continuum offers a methodology through which we learn to be receptive to new and unfamiliar patterns moving through us.

All creative processes offer us the challenge of learning to recognize and welcome that which is unknown. In this module, we will continue to build our perceptual capacity and deepen in our sensory awareness of the silent realm of movement within. Through ongoing practice we gain the experience of moving with an underlying unity and unfolding mystery of life. The nature of the body becomes a resource we learn to trust and rely upon as we meet unknown territory and the emerging possibilities of new innovation.

This module will include explorations of the following inquiries:
• the relationship of imagination and image-to- body function and expression
• the role of creative play and dialogue in all learning processes
• how context shapes the possibilities and outcomes of all creative processes

Entry to the 200 hour training program is possible anytime. You do not have to attend the entire 8 module program.
